Over the past few weeks, you heard the news about how Hurricane Florence has been sweeping through the East.
According to CBS News, meteorologists are reporting anywhere between $10 to $60 billion in economic damages. Not only that but in North Carolina alone, there are 19,000 people in shelters.
As the peak of hurricane season approaches, Soles4Souls is now working to collect, prepare and distribute shoes and clothing to victims of not only Hurricane Florence, but other potentially devastating storms as well. When it comes to helping communities rebuild their lives after a natural disaster, it is crucial to prepare now for future efforts.
Sometimes it’s hard to decipher how to contribute. With the partnership between The Walking Cradle Co. and Soles4Souls, you can get while giving at the same time.
Right now, one way you can help is by donating your new or gently worn shoes. Until September 29, we are collecting shoes at locations around St. Louis and will be sending them to Soles4Souls to help those that need it the most. Here are the drop-off locations:

What is Soles4Souls, and How Does it Work?
Soles4Souls is a non-profit organization that offers assistance through the distribution of shoes and clothing here in the U.S. and in countries all over the world. The distinction between Soles4Souls and other organizations is that their goal is to help the needy but also create a sustainable, long-term business model to aid in disrupting the cycle of poverty. So, not only are their efforts helping individuals immediately but the effects are seen well into the future. Soles4Souls is empowering women in developing nations to start and sustain their own small businesses to step out of poverty.
“Soles4Souls does more than just put shoes on peoples feet."
The Walking Cradle Co. is honored to be partnering with such a wonderful cause, especially because we see the direct impact Soles4Souls has. The past few years, our President Mark Lemp Jr. has gone to Cabo, Mexico to volunteer and provide assistance to those in need.
“The events such as the Cabo, Mexico brings industry people from all over the USA together united in service and helping. Over 80 people measured feet, gave away 5,000 pairs of shoes, 3,000 shirts and 300+ Bibles.” -Mark Lemp Jr., President of Walking Cradles
He has returned with stories, pictures, and a vision for how our company can be a part of what is happening around the world.
“There are real needs for basic necessities to be provided, and I am proud to say Walking Cradles has stepped forward and joined New Balance, Fishers of Men, and McCulloch’s Wide Shoes in serving the mission of Soles4Souls.”-Mark Lemp Jr., President of Walking Cradles
Here at Walking Cradles, we have created an easy way for you to give and support the cause. For every pair of Metro Collection shoes sold, we will donate $1 to Soles4Souls. The $1 from your purchase is all it costs to ship a pair of shoes anywhere in the world!
Not only will a portion of your purchase go towards the cause, but you will get the most comfortable, amazing shoes you won't ever want to take off! You can find any of our Metro Collection Shoes on our website at www.walkingcradles.com. To learn more about Soles4Souls, visit their website at www.soles4souls.org.
